Benelli TNT 135
The small, lightweight sport machine with big-bike styling and components
The Benelli TNT 135 is the perfect machine for younger and/or newer riders, or someone who may be considering buying a scooter. It’s sporty, lightweight, easy to ride, and styled like a full-sized naked bike. It also has plenty of high-tech big-bike components, such as cast-alloy wheels, disc brakes front and rear, a steel-tube lattice frame, single shock suspension in the back, an inverted fork up front, and dual mufflers.
It all begins with the TNT 135’s engine: an Oil-cooled, 135cc, dual-plug, SOHC single featuring a 5-speed transmission and superb dependability. Besides its sporty, vertically-oriented cylinder design (not a budget-bike horizontal design), the key to this engine is flexibility, as the TNT 135 engine spreads its 13 horsepower over the entire rpm range. This makes the engine’s power extremely easy to use – the perfect thing for newer or younger riders. The five transmission speeds offer even more flexibility, so riders will always find the perfect gear for every situation.
Durability is one of the strong points of this engine. Benelli’s 105 years of engineering success, plus the TNT’s solid, air-cooled design, ensure years and years of trouble- and stress-free service. A sporty, dual-tipped exhaust system offers a sporty yet quiet exhaust note, too, while push-button electric starting makes getting started an easy affair.
The TNT 135’s chassis is every bit as advanced as the engine. Start with the frame: a steel-tube lattice design that’s reminiscent of our larger bike frames, only a bit smaller and lighter. The frame has a single downtube, which helps the engine form an integral element of the frame’s superb rigidity. Optimal frame geometry helps ensure stable yet sporty handling on both smooth and rough roads, while big-bike-type suspension – a 41mm inverted fork up front, and a preload-adjustable single shock system in back – help shield the rider and passenger from ruts, bumps and rougher roads.
TNT 135 wheels are 12-inch cast-alloy units fitted with grippy, higher-profile tires that offer extra compliance for a plush ride and extra comfort. The riding position is sporty but also quite roomy, which also adds to rider comfort. TNT bodywork is modern and sexy, and recalls Benelli’s larger, cutting-edge TNT machines in shape and attitude. A digital instrument cluster keeps the rider up-to-date on speed, engine rpm and a host of other parameters, while wide, rear-view mirrors keep him/ her aware of what’s behind.
With its willing and flexible engine, sexy big-bike looks, modern suspension and easy-to-ride nature, the TNT 135 is a winner any way you look at it. It’s a smaller bike with big-bike looks and attitude – the real thing! And with its amazingly affordable price, it’s the perfect around-town or country motorcycle for younger or newer riders.
